Do you want to contribute to strengthening animal welfare in Stockholm County?
We are now looking for two colleagues with expertise in animal welfare work to strengthen our team for the summer.
Work in the field of animal welfare is multifaceted and includes, among other things, animal welfare inspections, approvals and permits for various animal-related activities, and preliminary assessments of stables. We are also responsible for handling cases according to the Animal Welfare Act, as well as executing animal confiscations.
With us, you will have a varied job and primarily work with case management within the animal welfare operations. Your tasks will include receiving complaints and performing certain case handling within animal welfare and the Animal Welfare Act. The work also involves other administration and service. It is primarily an administrative position, but you may also participate in fieldwork and enforcement after confiscations. It may also involve drafting and presenting decisions and writing criminal reports.
The work may also include other case handling within the field of animal welfare. We work divided into groups with a primary focus on one or more tasks, but you need to be prepared to support and contribute to other tasks or in other groups and units in the department as needed.
The assignment involves many contacts at various levels in society, such as with the public, animal keepers, animal health personnel, businesses, industry organizations, municipalities, county administrative boards, central authorities, and departments.
Are you the one we are looking for?
This assignment is suitable for you who are at the beginning of your career. For this role, we want you to have:
- a university degree and are a recent graduate agronomist, ethologist, environmental and health protection inspector, or biologist with a specialization in animal welfare, or have another education that the employer assesses as equivalent
- good knowledge of relevant legislation and the risks to animal welfare in various forms of animal husbandry
- good knowledge of the Office suite
- good communication skills and can express yourself both verbally and in writing in Swedish
- a driver's license for passenger cars
To succeed and thrive in the role, you need to have your own drive, be able to take initiative, and independently plan and execute your work effectively towards established goals and timelines. You are responsible, attentive, and have excellent communication skills. The work requires that you enjoy collaborating with others as you will have a lot of contact with animal owners and operators, authorities, and colleagues in the department. You need to have good judgment in all these contacts combined with great integrity in the exercise of authority. We will place high demands on your ability to take and follow instructions, use IT systems, and that you are an experienced computer user.

The emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.
It is advantageous if you have:
- experience in case investigation or work at an authority
- some experience as an animal welfare officer at the County Administrative Board and knowledge of the systems Platina and DSK
- practical experience working with animals
- experience working with people in, for example, care, social services, or educational activities
More about us and the role
You will work in the animal welfare unit. The unit consists of the area of animal welfare, with cases related to complaints about inadequate animal husbandry, covering the entire chain from filing a report to inspection and, if applicable, confiscations. Also, cases concerning inadequate supervision of dogs.
We are part of the Rural Development Department, which has four additional units and nearly 80 employees. In the teams, we collaborate and support each other within our respective areas. The unit managers lead with warmth and commitment and practice trust-based leadership.
